Life of a Blogger: Are You an Introvert or Extrovert?

5:22 PM

Life of a Blogger is a great weekly feature made by Novel Heartbeat which will help our readers learn more abut who we are. This week's topic is if you're an introvert or an extrovert. Since there are three of us, our answers may differ so just bear with us if the post gets too confusing.

We weren't too sure what exactly defines an introvert or an extrovert, so we decided to check out Myer's Briggs Personality Types to find out.

Before taking this test, Kimi sees herself as an extrovert, Beryl as an extrovert and Audrey as an introvert. But upon taking the exam, it seems that things are actually not what they seem.

Extraversion (E)
I like getting my energy from active involvement in events and having a lot of different activities. I’m excited when I’m around people and I like to energize other people. I like moving into action and making things happen. I generally feel at home in the world. I often understand a problem better when I can talk out loud about it and hear what others have to say.
The following statements generally apply to me:
  • I am seen as “outgoing” or as a “people person.”
  • I feel comfortable in groups and like working in them.
  • I have a wide range of friends and know lots of people.
  • I sometimes jump too quickly into an activity and don’t allow enough time to think it over.
  • Before I start a project, I sometimes forget to stop and get clear on what I want to do and why.
Introversion (I)
I like getting my energy from dealing with the ideas, pictures, memories, and reactions that are inside my head, in my inner world. I often prefer doing things alone or with one or two people I feel comfortable with. I take time to reflect so that I have a clear idea of what I’ll be doing when I decide to act. Ideas are almost solid things for me. Sometimes I like the idea of something better than the real thing.
The following statements generally apply to me:
  • I am seen as “reflective” or “reserved.”
  • I feel comfortable being alone and like things I can do on my own.
  • I prefer to know just a few people well.
  • I sometimes spend too much time reflecting and don’t move into action quickly enough.
  • I sometimes forget to check with the outside world to see if my ideas really fit the experience.
I guess I can consider myself more as an introvert now, because I like working on my own more than groupworks. I also like knowing just a few people well, as opposed to knowing lots of people everywhere. I used to think of myself as more of an extrovert just because I like going out, but I think from the descriptions above I can relate more to the statements listed under introversion.

I am definitely an introvert. I prefer being alone. I also don't have much friends since I hate socializing. Even without taking the quiz, it's quite obvious that I am an introvert. I'd rather do stuff on my own than work in groups. I'm too lazy to go out of the house and I hate people. PERIOD.

I think I'm more of an introvert. I am more focused on internal thoughts, feelings and moods rather than seeking out external stimulation. Just like Kimi, I first thought that I'm an extrovert but I realized that all the statements stated are really what I am.

What about you? Are you an introvert or extrovert? :)

  1. One of the biggest things I've noticed about being an introvert is that interaction wears me out. I enjoy going out and seeing friends, but I can't do a lot of it. Honestly, even the internet wears me out sometimes. ;)

  2. *waves* I just stumbled upon this blog, and first off I wanted to say that I LOVE the site name. As for the actual post, I'm definitely more of an introvert as well. While I love spending time with my friends, I "recharge" while alone. It's nice to meet another bunch of introverts! :)

  3. Haha I can definitely relate to some of the introverted aspects and also some of the extroverted aspects! I feel like I'm really shy and overanalyze things, like the introverted side of me, which makes it hard to make friends, even though I really WANT to have a ton of friends and run around all like, "Hi you! Oh hey how are you doing? Omg I haven't talked to YOU in a long time." stuff like that. Haha I love the two descriptions at the top though!

  4. Thanks for stopping by my Life of a Blogger! It's crazy how some of you thought you were extroverts, but have now changed your mind. I think some people automatically think of an introvert as very shy, but that's not the case!

  5. Hey there, fellow introverts! I also hate working with a group but I think that's more because of the fact that I often get teamed up with unreliable people. Ugh.

  6. Ah, now that I've read the definitions, I think I'm definitely an extrovert. xD I love working in groups. Even though there are some people in the group that I won't like and won't agree with, I'll usually connect with one or two people in said group, and we'll work really well together. Plus, I love problem solving, and being able to talk to other people about the problem helps me formulate my own opinions and such. c:

Definitely an interesting post! I'm glad I read this, because now I know what to categorize myself as. :D
