Remember that time Robin Thicke got nominated in the Grammy's?

I know. I'm as flabbergasted as you are.

I don't usually rant about things and try to avoid ranting as much as possible -basically because I find myself so mad I get full on rage mode and people stop listening to me and/or I lose friends. Not exactly ideal.

But in light of recent circumstances I think this calls for an official rant and complaint to the people who decide on the Grammy nominations.

I have serious reservations about the other nominees and the worst Grammy snubs, but there is one teeny tiny fact that I can't overlook and it's that ROBIN THICKE got nominated for not one not two but THREE FUCKING GRAMMY'S! How is it possible that a man who sings about "domesticating" a woman and spends most of the song whispering "I know you want it" to a woman as he begs her to let him put something "big enough that will tear your ass into two" (and not to mention the army of nude girls parading around him like dogs), gets nominated for the fucking Grammy's the most prestigious awards show in music?! Oh and It's not even the issue that the girls are naked in the video, it's that they are presented like objects and drones and look like they are so bored with it as they follow Robin Thicke around like puppies.

Now I told myself I wouldn't talk about the most controversial VMA's performance of 2013 again but it can't be helped. After Miley and Robin's sexual and provocative performance, Miley was the subject of extreme backlash for what she did and Robin was left unscathed, even if we all know that it takes two to tango. And now with the Grammys season, Miley got robbed with zero nominations even if her music is fucking number one everywhere. On the other hand good ol' Robin the misogynsitc douchebag who sang one rapey song and isn't even ashamed of it is lauded for his actions?! Am I not the only one who is extremely violated by Robin Thicke? Imagine all those rape victims who have listened or will listen to this song on the radio or at some point of their lives and they're gona be so fucked up because it's time to realize that we live in a society where men who think that degrading people is cool and that "I know you want it" is an acceptable argument or rational to force people (not just women!) into bed when it's not, are praised and lauded and rewarded for their belief system. I am so tired of this blatant sexism and double standard in society, it's sickening and disgusting esp when these chauvinist pigs promote such ideals and are given the pat on the back and told "good job" I can't even omg

So screw you Robin you might have the people behind the Grammy noms in yor hands but you aint getting my vote or my respect

Remembering Nelson Mandela

When I was 14 years old, I was tasked to write an editorial for our school paper in highschool. This was such an honor for me because I knew I had the chance to write something that would matter. With the push of a friend who believed in my capabilities, I decided to write a piece about leadership, citing different people who exemplified such qualities.

I asked my father for suggestions on who to feature on this piece, and he gave me the name NELSON MANDELA.

Does Friendship Have An Expiration Date?

friend·ship
\ˈfren(d)-ˌship\
noun
  • 1 : the state of being friends
  • 2 : the quality or state of being friendly : friendliness

Friendship is one of the strongest things and the weakest things. It is something that everybody craves, everybody wants to be part of a group, to have friends, to feel like they belong. Nobody really knows when friendship starts or ends, but what I will write about now is how it ends, not when, but how. Is it true that friendship has an expiration date?

I have been friends with a classmate of mine for six years. We were best friends and people have always mistaken us for twins. When we first met, I was a very shy girl and she just walked up to me and introduced herself. She helped me become more confident. We were inseparable. So, why do I dislike her now? I talked to a classmate of mine and he told me that he had a group of friends before, all of whom he fought with, he isn't as close to them now. He also told me that when you have been friends with a person for a long period of time you start seeing the bad things about them and they start seeing the bad in you. Eventually, all of the anger, irritation, and contempt boil up to the surface, people get hurt, and friendship ends.

For me, when a friendship survives seven years worth of arguments, misunderstandings, and trials, it can then be considered true friendship. When a person knows everything about you and is still your friend, then they can be considered genuine.

Friendship should have love and care.
Friendship should survive tears, smiles, laughter, anger, and confusion.
Friendship should be strong, yet gentle.
Friendship should have trust. When you have gained someone's trust, take care of it.

Friendship is something that can happen at the most random times. Friendship is something that can end in the blink of an eye. We should talk to our friends about our problems are ask them for advice.

I don't think that friendship has an expiration date, I think that friendship just has a lot of challenges. We can overcome these challenges if we work hard enough. I believe that the reason why people think that friendship has an expiration date is because at one point in friendship, friends will encounter a challenge so big that it seems impossible to get past. If we put faith in the friendship that we really want, we will be able to get past that 'expiration date' and the bond between two friends will grow stronger.

Remember, friendship isn't easy. Friendship is something you put effort into, but also remember that if the effort you are exerting is not appreciated maybe it is time to put effort into something or someone else.
