RANDOM RAMBLINGS: Generation Z & Adults

WARNING: THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ALL ADULTS

Teenagers have always been a mystery to adults, but honestly we're not that mysterious. Adults misunderstand us. They think we're the kind of people who will end up homeless and unemployed. They think that we're disrespectful, sarcastic, shallow people who will end up becoming bums and/or couch potatoes. Well, we're not (although, inevitably, some of us will). Adults judge. Some of them act like they know everything, not accepting correction.

I would like to talk about some topics that involve our generation and adults.

1. Technology
All that talk about technology ruling the younger generation's brains, making us more and more stupid everyday, is absolute crap. It's just not true. Adults also use a lot of gadgets! Some of them even rely on it more than we do! Some of them think that you won't get anything done without gadgets. Those people probably wouldn't stand a day without their phones or their computers. It's true that some teenagers are like that too. I am as guilty of this as the unnamed adults that I am talking about. Gadgets aren't useless but they aren't the way to everything either.

2. Assumptions
Let me just say that I hate it when adults assume things that aren't even remotely correct. They judge people by how they dress. They judge books and movies by the covers or the titles and I just hate that. I know that when they do this they're just looking out for us, but that doesn't make it less frustrating. I hate it when adults say that a book is not appropriate simply because of the title or the cover. I hate it when adults say that a person must be bad just because they dress in the wrong color, or if they frown too much.

My Experience in The Dark

4

'Twas a day of darkness and a night of light... No, seriously. There was a brownout today and we didn't have internet, we couldn't shower in hot water, and we couldn't see all that much... It sucked.

It started when I woke up this morning, I went to the bathroom and opened the light, or at least I tried to but the light wouldn't open. I thought that the bulb was simply burned out so I went back to sleep and forgot all about it until my sister said that there was a brownout. We had to go to our grandmother's house in our pajamas because there was no water in our house. After showering, we went back home.

A cousin of mine came over to our house hoping that there would be wifi and hot water unfortunately though, there wasn't any. We ended up talking about life and stuff. After a while of complaining about the heat, my mother came in and suggested that we play basketball since we never do anything sporty, my sister and cousin disagreed and we were back to talking about life and terrorizing our 4- year- cousin but even that gets boring after a while. My sister finally fell asleep and my cousin and I started eating. A lot. My 5- year- old cousin (brother of the 4-year- old cousin) asked me to go and play basketball with him so I went out and bravely attempted to play basketball. I sucked, of course but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun! I went back into the house sweating and smelling like the foot of a person who has just ran a marathon and the worst part was that there was no water so I couldn't take a bath. That was already around 5 o'clock though so I only had to wait an hour and 53 minutes to freshen up and be able to see well enough to change clothes.

The Christmas Series: A Stitch In Time Saves Nine

'A stitch in time saves nine' means that if we fix a problem while it is not yet big, we could stop that problem from getting bigger and harder to solve.

Although a lot of people hate problems, I actually appreciate and am thankful for the small ones that can be solved easily. This is because they show us the simplicity of life and how we are in control of it for most of the time. It also shows us that we can always do something to make a situation better so we should never feel useless and/or hopeless.

I admit that sometimes, when life seems to become too hard for me to go on, I start wishing for a life with no problems. I imagine a place where it doesn't rain but is never too hot - a place where everything you need and want is already there. It always seems appealing to me but when I start thinking about staying in a place like that for the rest of my life, I get bored and hope that it never happens. Can you imagine a place where there are no problems, big or small? Sure, it'll sound nice at first but after a while it just gets boring, doesn't it?
