Random Saturdays: Things We Hate

We decided that every Saturday, we will be sharing personal stuff about the ladies behind Geeky Chiquitas! :) For our second post, we decided to tell you guys about the things that we hate. It could be something that a person does, it could be a sound, a feeling, a smell, a word, and basically anything else. Enjoy!

1. I hate the sound of nails scratching cloth. Like when someone scratches a pillowcase or bedsheet and I'm close enough to hear the sound. I really hate that.

2. I hate mashed potatoes. I don't know why. Maybe  it's the texture or something I really don't know.

3. I hate it when people touch my hair. I feel like my hair's just gonna fall off or something so I get really mad when people touch my hair. I can't stand it.

1. I hate the sound when a spoon or a fork scratches a plate. The accidental thing someone does when they're trying to separate their food and make it smaller then suddenly the fork or spoon slides across the plate. That sound. I hate that. Just no.

2. I hate ketchup and oranges which you probably already know with the number of times that I've said but I just had to say it again.

3. I hate it when people borrow my stuff without asking, especially if I haven't even used it before that person. I seriously super hate that and it leaves me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

1. I hate it when people walk out of a room, but forget to close the door. How hard is it to close the door when you go out?

2. I hate it worms. Once, it fell on my camera and I screamed so hard I almost cried. I especially hate it when the worm has hair. Eek, it's giving me the shivers.

3. I hate it when plans get cancelled. It just sucks so bad when I look forward so much to something, and it ends up getting cancelled.

What do you hate? Leave a comment!

GCQ Bucketlist: BERYL

Julie Murphy, author of Side Effects May Vary has made her very own feature to celebrate the launch of her new book. She has asked some bloggers to make their own bucket list to help celebrate the launch. Since we have the read the book and loved it, we decided to help out. And bucketlists are fun, aren't they? :D

Her book was one of the best books we've read this year and we would like to give our thanks for allowing us to read and review her book by helping her out this time. Her book will be published on March 18, 2014 and we are free to post our bucket list any time between March 11, 2014 to March 17, 2014. We have decided that instead of posting just one bucket list for the whole celebration, we will post one bucket list each day starting from March 11, 2014 and ending on March 17, 2014, the allotted dates for posting the bucket list. Audrey already made her bucketlist last March 13, so today it's my turn to share mine! Kimi will be posting tomorrow, so you've got to wait for hers too!

BERYL'S BUCKET LIST

1. Dye my hair in three different colors all at once. I know this sounds crazy, but wouldn't it be fun to try  it, and see what you'll look like.

2. Ride a bull. I usually see people riding bulls in movies or tv shows. As I look at their reactions, what they're doing seems to be breath taking. I would want to try something that will take my breath away and totally unforgettable in my life. (If I survive)

3. Build a treehouse. I want to build my own treehouse and stay there when I just want to be in a silent and peaceful place all by myself, reading a book and eating snacks. Plus, it's totally up to me how I would want to decorate my treehouse because it's completely mine!

4. Wear a mermaid costume. I love Ariel, and maybe that's one of the main reasons why I would like to try wearing a costume like hers.

5. Design a book cover of one of my favorite authors. They say don't judge a book by it's cover but let's all admit it that the cover is the very first impression you get when you choose a book. I want to be  able to let others appreciate my work as part of the book. This is quite hard to achieve but nothing is impossible.

6. Go to space. I never dreamt of being an astronaut, but I've always wanted to see the outerspace. Maybe in the future, when the world is more advanced, we can find a way for ordinary people to go to outerspace.

Soooooooo, that's my bucket list! What's yours? Don't forget to drop a comment about what you think!

Title: Side Effects May Vary
Author: Julie Murphy
Publisher: HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray
Publishing Date: March 18, 2014
What if you’d been living your life as if you were dying—only to find out that you had your whole future ahead of you?

When sixteen-year-old Alice is diagnosed with leukemia, her prognosis is grim. To maximize the time she does have, she vows to spend her final months righting wrongs—however she sees fit. She convinces her friend Harvey, whom she knows has always had feelings for her, to help her with a crazy bucket list that’s as much about revenge (humiliating her ex-boyfriend and getting back at her arch nemesis) as it is about hope (doing something unexpectedly kind for a stranger and reliving some childhood memories). But just when Alice’s scores are settled, she goes into remission.

Now Alice is forced to face the consequences of all that she’s said and done, as well as her true feelings for Harvey. But has she done irreparable damage to the people around her, and to the one person who matters most?

Julie Murphy’s SIDE EFFECTS MAY VARY is a fearless and moving tour de force about love, life, and facing your own mortality.

2014 Must Try Hairstyles

A new year has come and a good way to make it unforgettable at the end of the year is by trying new things!

This year, I would like to try crazy and different hairstyles, but I don't think my hair would grow that fast to try them all so I'll just share them to you.

1. Straight Bob-Cut

I have a natural straight hair with bangs, so I think this haircut is easy to do with my hair. You just need to cut it off. Even though it's risky, isn't it fun to try a new style? To have a new look? You won't need to worry for bad hair days anymore because with short hair, it's always easier to fix.

2. Wavy Curls

Wavy curls is my fave of all time! I love getting my hair wavy because who wouldn't get bored with having such straight hair all the time? Sometimes, I even bun up my hair then pull it off after some hours, just to make it wavy. How desperate am I, right? When you have to attend formal events, you can easily go with this hairstyle, no problemo.

DIY Halloween Bracelets and Hair Bow

Bows and bracelets are actually the two things that I'm addicted to right now. Because Halloween is coming, I thought about making a DIY blog post on how to make bows and bracelets suited for Halloween. These are also simple ways to spice up whatever costume you are going to wear.  Now, I'm going to show you the steps to make one. :)

DIY bracelet

Materials needed are:

1. Nylon strings
2. Scissors
3. Different designs and colors of beads

Step 1: Measure your wrist with the string them cut.

Step 2. Double tie one end of the string.

Step 3: Think of a pattern for your bracelet then one by one insert the beads.

Step 4: Double tie the other end then tie to lock. It is now a bracelet.

DIY Hair Bow

Materials needed are:

1. Scissors
2. Fabric
3. Bobby pins/ hair clip/ alligator clips
4. Needle and thread that matches your fabric
5. Ruler
6.Pencil
7. Sequence ( optional )

Step 1: Measure your fabric to be 9.5 by 7 inches, use your pencil to mark off your measurements.

Step 2: Cut your fabric at marked off spots. It doesn't need to be that straight because the ends will be hidden once the bow is done.

Step 3: Fold the fabric long ways, folding both ends in, making them overlap a little bit.

Step 4: Now fold the outer ends in making them overlap like the last step.
Step 5: Flip over your fabric and pinch it to the middle to fold it into a bow. Play around with the fold until you are satisfied.

Step 6: Stitch the middle folds until it is secure.

Step 7: After stitching, take a fabric scrap about the length of the bow for you center covering.
Fold it again like what you did with the large piece then wrap it in to sew.

Step 8: Slip a bobby pin in the back. You may also use other types of pins or clips but I only had a bobby pin so that's what I used.

You may also add designs to your bow, just like what I did with mine :)

Something that I learned while doing this is that you don't always need expensive and brand new things to make something look nice. The bow turned out pretty well despite the fact that we didn't spend much on it.

Thank you to Andrea Ellamil for helping me make the bracelet and bow. =))
