Waiting On Wednesday: Girls Like Us by Gail Giles

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Girls Like Us

Title: Girls Like Us
Author: Gail Giles
Hardcover, 224 pages
Expected publication: May 27th 2014
Publisher: Candlewick Press

From Goodreads:

We understand stuff. We just learn it slow. And most of what we understand is that people what ain’t Speddies think we too stupid to get out our own way. And that makes me mad.

Quincy and Biddy are both graduates of their high school’s special ed program, but they couldn’t be more different: suspicious Quincy faces the world with her fists up, while gentle Biddy is frightened to step outside her front door. When they’re thrown together as roommates in their first "real world" apartment, it initially seems to be an uneasy fit. But as Biddy’s past resurfaces and Quincy faces a harrowing experience that no one should have to go through alone, the two of them realize that they might have more in common than they thought — and more important, that they might be able to help each other move forward.

Hard-hitting and compassionate, Girls Like Us is a story about growing up in a world that can be cruel, and finding the strength — and the support — to carry on.

WHY WE'RE WAITING:
We all know that growing up and entering the adult word is not an easy stage in our life, so after reading the synopsis of this book, we were all very curious about the story of both Quincy and Biddy. We have never read a book of Gail Giles too, so this book might be the book that will make us fall for her other works.

Waiting on Wednesday: Dear, Killer by Katherine Ewell

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

WHAT WE'RE WAITING FOR

Title: Dear, Killer
Author: Katherine Ewell
Publisher: Harpercollins
Publication Date: April 2014

Kit takes her role as London’s notorious “Perfect Killer” seriously. The letters and cash that come to her via a secret mailbox are not a game; choosing who to kill is not an impulse decision. Every letter she receives begins with “Dear Killer,” and every time Kit murders, she leaves a letter with the dead body. Her moral nihilism and thus her murders are a way of life—the only way of life she has ever known.

Katherine Ewell’s Dear Killer is a sinister psychological thriller that explores the thin line between good and evil, and the messiness of that inevitable moment when life contradicts everything you believe.

WHY WE'RE WAITING

What an interesting concept! It sounds absolutely dark and thrilling and we've probably never read anything like this before! Eep! It's something new and we're really looking forward to it.

What are you waiting for? Tell us below! :)

Maybe that was always besides the point.

Two days before they’re supposed to visit Neal’s family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can’t go. She’s a TV writer, and something’s come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles.
