GCQ Bucketlist: BERYL

9:17 PM

Julie Murphy, author of Side Effects May Vary has made her very own feature to celebrate the launch of her new book. She has asked some bloggers to make their own bucket list to help celebrate the launch. Since we have the read the book and loved it, we decided to help out. And bucketlists are fun, aren't they? :D

Her book was one of the best books we've read this year and we would like to give our thanks for allowing us to read and review her book by helping her out this time. Her book will be published on March 18, 2014 and we are free to post our bucket list any time between March 11, 2014 to March 17, 2014. We have decided that instead of posting just one bucket list for the whole celebration, we will post one bucket list each day starting from March 11, 2014 and ending on March 17, 2014, the allotted dates for posting the bucket list. Audrey already made her bucketlist last March 13, so today it's my turn to share mine! Kimi will be posting tomorrow, so you've got to wait for hers too!

BERYL'S BUCKET LIST

1. Dye my hair in three different colors all at once. I know this sounds crazy, but wouldn't it be fun to try  it, and see what you'll look like.

2. Ride a bull. I usually see people riding bulls in movies or tv shows. As I look at their reactions, what they're doing seems to be breath taking. I would want to try something that will take my breath away and totally unforgettable in my life. (If I survive)

3. Build a treehouse. I want to build my own treehouse and stay there when I just want to be in a silent and peaceful place all by myself, reading a book and eating snacks. Plus, it's totally up to me how I would want to decorate my treehouse because it's completely mine!

4. Wear a mermaid costume. I love Ariel, and maybe that's one of the main reasons why I would like to try wearing a costume like hers.

5. Design a book cover of one of my favorite authors. They say don't judge a book by it's cover but let's all admit it that the cover is the very first impression you get when you choose a book. I want to be  able to let others appreciate my work as part of the book. This is quite hard to achieve but nothing is impossible.

6. Go to space. I never dreamt of being an astronaut, but I've always wanted to see the outerspace. Maybe in the future, when the world is more advanced, we can find a way for ordinary people to go to outerspace.

Soooooooo, that's my bucket list! What's yours? Don't forget to drop a comment about what you think!

Title: Side Effects May Vary
Author: Julie Murphy
Publisher: HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray
Publishing Date: March 18, 2014
What if you’d been living your life as if you were dying—only to find out that you had your whole future ahead of you?

When sixteen-year-old Alice is diagnosed with leukemia, her prognosis is grim. To maximize the time she does have, she vows to spend her final months righting wrongs—however she sees fit. She convinces her friend Harvey, whom she knows has always had feelings for her, to help her with a crazy bucket list that’s as much about revenge (humiliating her ex-boyfriend and getting back at her arch nemesis) as it is about hope (doing something unexpectedly kind for a stranger and reliving some childhood memories). But just when Alice’s scores are settled, she goes into remission.

Now Alice is forced to face the consequences of all that she’s said and done, as well as her true feelings for Harvey. But has she done irreparable damage to the people around her, and to the one person who matters most?

Julie Murphy’s SIDE EFFECTS MAY VARY is a fearless and moving tour de force about love, life, and facing your own mortality.

Julie lives in North Texas with her husband who loves her, her dog who adores her, and her cat who tolerates her. When she's not writing or trying to catch stray cats, she works at an academic library.Side Effects May Vary is Julie's debut novel. Julie can best be found on her website (www.juliemurphywrites.com), tumblr (www.andimjulie.tumblr.com), or twitter (www.twitter.com/andimjulie).

  2. I have always wanted to be an astronaut. Alas, early on I realized I was never going to be in good enough shape. (My sis-in-law's ex-boyfriend has tried out for the training program numerous times and always washed out.) But, space tourism is becoming a possibility! Soon...soon...

  4. Bull riding is way too dangerous. I've seen someone lose half the skin over their jaw from a bull riding accident. It was scary. I want to build my own tree house too! My cousins have one and it's like a real house with a stove and everything.
