LIFE UPDATE

We've been gone for a while in the blogging world so we feel like we haven't shared to you details of what we've been up to. We have the exact same excuse as all the other times we've been gone, which is that school's been taking up all of our time. It was finals week last week, so we've all been really busy trying to catch up with all the deadlines and cramming for all the exams. We can't be sure of whether or not we'll be busy this week, so we'll try to update you with this blog post as much as we can and give you all the details now in case we don't have time to blog again.

So as we've said earlier, all we've done this week is basically study, study, study. We've also been really stressed out for the past two to three weeks, literally we've been breaking out and everything. A lot of things have been going on really, apart from the finals, we've had a lot of projects, papers and essays due too. Another thing is that we have an upcoming performance for our intramurals that we've been practicing for non-stop. We finally found the time to blog today since we pretty much finished everything already. Even though we're definitely more chill than we were a few weeks ago, we still feel quite horrible actually. We haven't really been getting enough sleep and all the aspects of our life from school to family to friends to extracurricular activities have been overloading, so we have been sleeping late and waking up early even on weekends. Even so, we're taking the time to blog right now since we've really missed it. We hope that we can be more consistent in the weeks to come.

By the way, we're nearing 200 followers!!! We're super happy and excited about it, and we would like to thank you all so much for sticking with us even though we haven't been doing anything lately. We'll try to blog more and maybe host a giveaway??? No promises! We would also like to apologize in advance because we might not be posting a lot of book reviews in the near future since we really haven't had the time to read anything at all. We'll try to think of new things to post that you guys will hopefully enjoy just as much. :)

Hey guys!! Kimi here! And I'm so scared to face the blogging world because I haven't been doing any blogging or reading in the past month! frown emoticon Ever since school started I've been bombarded with never ending acads and org work. You guys might now know, but I'm a president of my organization in college and it's taking up most of my time these days. We've been organizing a lot of activities and been doing outreach projects (since my org is a socio civic org) so I've been quite stressed lately. I really was on the verge of a breakdown for a while back there, but I was able to pick myself back up by watching The Duff (my ultimate feel good movie from now on) and listening to Hannah Montana music (yes it still works for me until now!). I'll probably find more time to read, and blog by October; hopefully things have settled down by then. And I'll be posting my hauls and travel stories soon! I just went to the Manila International Book Fair and I can't wait to share my experience with you guys! It's my 3rd year and it's still so wow to see so many books in one place! I hope I can do it soon. Thank you so much for sticking around with us, despite all our shortcomings.

We promise we'll be around more once we're less busy! And we'll do something for you guys just as a little thank you! <3

GCQ Travels + Kimi's Life & Books + Feature Follow Friday

Life.
Hey guys, Kimi here! I haven't posted in a while and I just wanted to check in and let you guys know that I'm still alive (lol). I've been travelling, schooling, working, and basically doing all sorts of things this year, and I haven't been that active in the blogosphere because of all of these. So just some things I've been doing the past few months.

Last May, I went to Taiwan for the whole month, joining a tour with other Filipino Chinese young adults in the Philippines. There were 151 of us all in all, and it was such a blast! We traveled all over Taiwan, visited various provinces and cities, went to night markets, ate a lot of great food, saw beautiful sights and learned so much about the culture and the people. It was definitely a life changing experience for me, mostly because I was able to get more in touch with my Chinese roots and met a lot of great friends that are for keeps.

Group 3! <3

GCQ's UPDATES

Hi guys!!

We've been doing a lot of reviews, book tours, and basically all of our scheduled posts. But we haven't taken the time yet to just update you with our lives and this blog. Today, we want to talk to you, just tell you what's happening, what we're planning to do and what we were able to do already.

Blog Design

We're actually pretty happy with our blog design already and we haven't had it for so long yet. We're probably gonna change it, but we don't know exactly when. We could actually change it anytime that we feel like it. We're also quite sure that we're gonna change it within this year, maybe even more than once, so stay tuned for that! :)

Blog Posts

Audrey and Beryl are definitely gonna be more active in the next couple of months since school's out and they have plenty of time to blog already. Kimi's still a bit busy, but we're sure she'll find time for blogging. We are aware that we haven't been actively participating in blog features like FFFs or Waiting on Wednesdays. This is why we are planning to put these in our schedule too. We're not gonna be able to post everyday as our sched is hectic (school, extracurricular activities, side projects, catching up on our  TV series - if you count that as hectic). Even so, we are aiming to have quality content that will make up for the lack of posts. Hope you guys understand!

Personal Livessssssssssss

Since it's already summer here in the Philippines, we haven't been doing anything at all. And we're already more productive than last year. We have been blogging, watching series, reading, eating, taking naps (three naps a day keeps the doctor away!), stalking celebs, and the list goes on! If you have no life, like us two, we'll share to you what we do to keep boredom away.

1. TV Series to Watch
Teen Wolf
Why Watch: Dylan O'Brien, hot dudes, unnecessary backflips, DYLAN O'BRIEN, werewolves

Elementary
Why Watch: you can use your brain, you learn stuff, it makes you feel smart

Suburgatory
Why Watch: funny, stress-relieving

2. Books to Read
Books by Colleen Hoover
Why Read: excellent writer, 5-star reviews from Kimi

That's all for today! We really enjoyed writing this post, hope you guys enjoyed it too! Comment down below your fave series and books, so we could watch and read them together. <3

Santa Sock of Surprises: Book Themed Gift Ideas for Christmas

Hey everyone! Welcome to Day 2 of GCQ's Santa Sock of Surprises! So there's only 4 days left til Christmas and for today's surprise from the Santa Sock, I will be giving some cool Christmas gift ideas for bookies like me. So if you have a friend who loves books as much as we do, these are the best gifts you could give them this holiday season. This is also somehow MY Christmas wishlist so if you're thinking of getting me something... well you know what to do. Haha.

1. Wall Art Thing
Illustration, Book lover gift, Writer gift, Bookish gift, Writer quotes, Wall art for nerds, Set of 4 Prints on Fine Art Paper

I saw this one over here and since I am such a sucker for books AND art, I can't not put this on this list! It's a wall art thing with Hunter S Thompson, Charles Bukowski, Sylvia Plath, and Jack Kerouac on it and it's just so pretty to my eyes! <3

2. Book USB
USB drive with 3000 free classic books - no extra software needed to open and read them.
Can I just say, this is the perfect USB to store all your ebooks! As a type of person who ALWAYS loses her USB, I'd probably take much better care of it if it looked like this.

Interviewing Chiara Garcia: Week 10

25
Hi guys! I know this is super delayed, so I'm really sorry. Again, we were all very busy. But, why don't we just meet this week's featured blogger! This is also the 10th and last blogger who we interviewed. Hope you enjoy her answers and get to know her!

1. Share your favorite joke or chat-up line.

I'm really bad with jokes, quite honestly! And when I do try to share some, it'll be a miracle if it actually sounds funny haha!

2. Most embarrassing moment?

I have poor memory, and I don't really hold on to bad memories too much, so I really don't remember. But once in a while I do trip and fall and get my undies flashed in front of a couple people. I'm pretty clumsy.

3. Zodiac sign?

I'm a virgo!

4. Most daring thing you've ever done?

Dropping out of college, definitely.

5. If you were about to be dropped in a pit of lava, what would you
choose as your last words?

Nothing too fancy. Maybe I'll just go, 'Goodbye beautiful world!'

6. Who is your favorite cartoon character?

Phineas and Ferb forever!

7. When you were a kid, what was the thing that was understood by
everyone but misinterpreted by you? (Example: ______ used to wonder
why people said that there was 0% interest. She means why would anyone
buy it if it wasn't even the slightest bit interesting?)

I have really poor memory as I've mentioned above so I don't remember any, sadly.

8. Who is your favorite blogger?

Is it weird to say I have none? I'm barely updated with music, movies or anything else really so it'll be almost impossible for me to keep up with blogs all the more!

9. Future plans?

To travel the world and document as much beauty as I can.

10. Animal that you would own as a pet? (Birds, cats, dogs, fishes,
bunnies, and guinea pigs not allowed)

A tiger! It's always been my dream.

11. Do you believe ants are nutritious?

Nope, but I do think they're cute. And annoying all at the same time haha!

12. Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars.

13. Favorite superhero?

My dad, always.

14. Favorite super villain?

How can anyone even have a favorite villain? (I'm just saying this because nothing's popping out of my mind!)

15. Name one thing you love about yourself?

That I love life. I think that makes everything so much easier for me.

16. TBH...

I feel really unhealthy nowadays just endlessly eating and snacking away 24/7.

17. What is your favorite shirt/dress/pants/jacket/hoodie/any piece of
clothing? Attach a picture.

I don't have a photo, but I love this romper that I got on sale from Target in Aussie. So comfortable and equally pretty!

18. Word that best describes you?

Passionate, for now, and I hope forever.

19. Favorite app?

I love VSCOcam!

20. What food do you crave right now? Attach a picture.

The one and only!

21. What's the thing you can't live without?

My journal.

22. What's your happy place?

It's always just a battle between the comforts of my room or the adventures I enjoy from the great unknown.

23. You just murdered someone. How would you dispose of their body?
(Examples: throw it in the ocean, bury it, dissolve it Breaking Bad
style) We're just curious, promise. :)

This is a little bit freaky, but I think I'd go for the throwing them into the ocean. Easy, instant solution!

24. Attach a selfie!

This is the closest I can get to a selfie right now. A photo from a few weeks ago in New Zealand.

25. Links on where to find you?

My online journal: www.thegypsysoul.com
My online portfolio: www.chiaragarcia.com

Check out and follow all of her links! :)

If any of you have suggestions for future blog posts, let us know in the comments! Thank you so much for supporting this little feature! Byee! xx

What We Normally Do on a Random Saturday (Beryl & Audrey)

As you all know we're sisters, which means we live together, sleep together, get to annoy each other, dance together and all that jazz. That also means that  we can easily document whatever the other is doing. And we definitely have a routine. In this post, we will be showing you guys what we do on a normal Saturday. Basically, it's a day in our lives blog post.

Let's start with when we wake up.
9:30 to 9:45- Obviously this is when we wake up. Since it's our summer vacation, we sleep past midnight, and wake up late. We wouldn't be up by this time if we weren't going out. Yes, we are lazy creatures. There is no denying this fact.

9:45 to 10:00- Beryl allots this time checking out notifications, instagram, twitter, pageviews and comments. Meanwhile, Audrey spends this time lying down, wrapped in the blankets like a burritto, wishing that it was night again.

10:00 to 10:30- It's breakfast time!!! YAY. We eat whatever's on the table, providing it's edible.

10:30 to 11:00-  Beryl usually uses half of this time to lie down again and the other half picking out her clothes for the day. Audrey uses this time to read on her iPad and wait impatiently until Beryl is finished picking out her clothes so that she can pick out her own.

11:00 to 11:45: Beryl takes a bath for around 15 minutes. After taking a bath, she does whatever her weird mind directs her to. Audrey takes a 30-minute bath because she prides herself on being clean and smelling good not because she's just slow and wants to irritate people. Obviously, Audrey wrote this part. And she does not regret anything.

11:45 to 12:00- Um, we lie down again? I don't really know what we do at this time. Seriously no idea. Maybe a wizard is robbing us of our memories or something. Why would they be robbing us of our memories, you ask? Well, maybe, they're taking us to their secret world and showing us their magic way. But then why would they take our memories if they take the time to show us their ways, you wonder? Well, we haven't gotten that far yet.

12:00 to 12:45- Food time again!! We LOOOVVEEEEE food.

12:45 to 5:00- It's either we watch tv series all day, lie down all day, sleep all day, go the grocery or mall. We don't know if it's just us, but we love going to groceries because we get to buy food. HAHA. Who doesn't love food?

5:00 to 6:00- Watching YouTube videos. Recently we've been addicted to YouTube. There are a lot of great YouTubers. ( Tyler Oakley, Troye Sivan, Zoella, Caspar Lee, Joe Sugg, Alfie, Joey Graceffa, etc...) Basically, their gang. I wish there was a vidcon in Manila. Comment down below your favorite YouTubers! =)

6:00 to 7:00: DINNERRR. WEEEEEE. They say that you should eat a lot during breakfast, but we're the complete opposite. We love dinner time, and that's the time we eat a LOT. Which will probably lead to us getting fat, but whatever.

7:00 to 8:00- We shower. Again. Because we are addicted to being clean and also because this is what people normally do. We bloggers are not so different. We eat and sleep and go grocery shopping. Just like you guys.

8:00 to 10:00- This is the time when we start panicking about what we'll post today (well, Beryl panics and Audrey watches her tv series). This is also the time when we start thinking to ourselves: If only we'd done this earlier, we wouldn't have to do it now when all we wanna do is watch our tv shows/read our favorite books. Usually, Beryl figures out what we need to do and tells Audrey to do it while Audrey glares at her for making her stop watching her show.

10:00 to 10:30- We'll publish the blog post around this time and share it so that people know we exist. We then wonder what we will post tomorrow but won't really think of anything because by this time, our brains will be useless jelly.

10:30 to11:00- We reply to emails and see if there are any comments awaiting moderation. That's like a fancy way if saying: "Do you approve of this statement, master?" We're not making sense, are we?

11:00 to 12:00- Audrey resumes watching her tv series. Beryl continues watching youtube videos and laughing to herself like a crazy lady.

12:00 to Whatever- Well, we sleep again and dream about bunnies and marshmallows and chocolate and stuff. Although, Audrey hasn't dreamt of anything in a long while. Is that an indication that something bad's gonna happen? I hope not.

So that's our day! We think we left out the toothbrush-ing and... other things. We definitely do that but we're pretty sure that no one wants to know about that so be grateful that we have spared you from this horrible fate.

What did you think about our totally normal day? Anything you wanna say? Just leave a comment!

ALSO, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR OVER A HUNDRED FOLLOWERS. THANK YOU.

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon // Mini Challenge #3: Mad Libs

For our third mini challenge, here is a mad lib! We really had fun doing this, and we were laughing the whole time.

One day, I was eating with Sam Henry. Out of the blue, a sloth came out of nowhere! It was slow, green and huge. At first, we were afraid, we were petrified but we survived. We hopped on a hovercraft to make our getaway.

As we escaped, we turned up the radio because Timber by Ke$ha came on and made me fall. Everything was extremely smooth sailing until a frog appeared in the middle of the road. We swerved to avoid it, but while Sam Henry stayed on the hovercraft, I got thrown unto my side in the woods.

I couldn't get up, and felt drunk as I lay there staring up at the trees. What was I going to do? I heard a quack among the leaves and felt terrified. Surely, this was going to be my end. As my eyes fluttered shut, the last thing I saw was a head of brown hair and blue eyes.

When I woke up again, I was on a refrigerator. My body hurt a whole lot less and I could sit up. There was a meerkat and orangutan in the room, along with pizza and beer. The door suddenly opened to reveal Augustus Waters, a concerned look on his face. I blushed and averted my gaze, but he danced and said, "Don't be shy. It's okay."

He came over to sit by me, and we started talking after I told him my name. We chatted about eating, sleeping and blogging and realized we had a ton in common! I thought he was crazy and couldn't help feeling a little swoony.

Just as he reached out for my hand, the door crashed open and in came Peeta Mellark. "Don't let him charm you away, my love!" He yelled, running at Augustus. They each had spoons and spatulas in their hands and began to fight. "Stop!", I yelled, feeling so bored. They didn't listen to me. Before I could intervene, Augustus fell to the floor and disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

"What was that?" I asked, staring at the empty space. Peeta dropped his weapons, and came over to me. "Magic, but you are safe now, butter." He hugged me close, and I suddenly knew that this was the real deal and not just a dream.

Just as Want U Back by Cher Lloyd started playing in my head, I woke up. I cursed my awesome luck. Why had it only been just a dream?

The Real Reasons Why I Don't Like Wearing Watches

Okay, I know you're wondering "Kimi, how can you NOT LIKE WEARING WATCHES??? Is this for real???" Well, this is for real, and I really don't like wearing watches, and I have my reasons - and you can find them further into this post.

So I have a friend who just hates the fact that I don't wear a watch. She just thinks it isn't normal for me to not wear a watch, and it annoys her how I have to open my phone just to check the time. And so, I feel like it is imperative for me to justify why I do not like wearing watches, and why I think it's best for me to not wear a watch. I'm not saying I don't like WATCHES, I actually like them, I just don't like WEARING them.

Oh and I'm not convincing anyone that wearing watches is not good, I'm just explaining my own preference of not wanting to wear watches. So without further ado, the reasons:

1. Wrist suffocation

WELCOME TO GEEKY CHIQUITAS 2.0

New Year, New Look!

WE PRESENT TO YOU, GEEKY CHIQUITAS 2.0!

We started the GCQs blog last July 2013, but at that time we didn't really take it seriously. Well, we've gone such a long way, and now it's New Year and it's a time for new beginnings, so we've decided to OFFICIALLY OPEN the blog today! So, WELCOME TO GEEKY CHIQUITAS 2.0!

We're not going to delete our old posts, because they're part of the journey to where we are now, but you better watch out for new posts which will be different, but bigger and better! (Don't worry though, we're still the same people, it's just that we will push for better content!)

And now, we'd like to present to you our new layout! YAY! We did a totally huge revamp, and now we've made the blog easier to navigate around by adding different tabs, so you go better check them out. We've also made a lot of new accounts for our blog in an effort to reach new audiences. So go and follow us in the following:

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE GEEKY CHIQUITAS!

Hi guys! HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We have just finished celebrating the New Year and we would like to share to you the things we did to celebrate it. We are also gonna tell you our plans for next year and our New Year's resolution.

To celebrate the New Year we had a big dinner, ate ice cream, inflated, like, a thousand balloons, and pestered our parents and aunties to play a game that the three of us, with the help of a cousin, planned. The game we planned was a scavenger hunt. We were going crazy because we didn't hide the clues yet and our relatives were already downstairs. After eating, they weren't leaving the dining area yet and we had to put a clue there. In the end, we decided to put the clues sneakily into where they were supposed to be. No one noticed us, I guess we can become ninjas now. After playing the game, we cooked spaghetti for the whole family and ate like there was no tomorrow. It was so fun!

We also made a list of our New Year's Resolution. We chose one out of the never-ending list that we made and here we are about to share them to you. Our New Year's resolution is to pray hard, study harder, and party hardest.  Yeah.

And of course, it wouldn't be New Year without the mandatory FIREWORKS!!!

Fearless 2013

Have you conquered any of your fears this year?

2013 was a pretty eventful year for me. I've done a lot of things I've never done before, like set up an online shop, join orgs, direct a short film, write a screenplay - but the one thing I've done this year that I am most proud of is creating this blog. Now that it's about to come to a close, I can't believe I've become so fearless.

I was a writer, I am a writer, and I always will be a writer. Who cares if I'm not employed in a magazine or newspaper or that I haven't had a single story published? I write and write and write, and no one can ever take that away from me.

I'm proud of my writing.

And this is the fear I've conquered in 2013.

The Christmas Series: Number Two

Before you get any ideas, no I am not talking about poop.

Well of course, I'd be lying if I say I didn't get the idea of writing about poop for today's thanksgiving. Imagine paragraphs and paragraphs about the mechanics of pooping and how it has contributed to everyday life and society in ways unimaginable. Man, I could go on about it forever. Tempting. Almost wrote about it, but no.

There are a lot of more important things to talk about, say, pizza

But no, I'm not talking about pizza either, since it has nothing to do with the number two (which isn't poop, I repeat, NOT POOP). As much as I love pizza and could write about it for as long as I live, I can't. Tempting, but no.

(Interested about pizza? Read what my friend Beryl has to say about it in thanksgiving #4 http://geekychiquitas.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-christmas-series-my-4-kinds-of-love.html?m=1)

So what's today's thanksgiving then, you ask?

Well let's try something cheesier than pizza today.

Peace.

But come on, you know me, I don't really like corny mushy stuff and I'm not going to talk about how I'm thankful for world peace and love and friendship makes the world a better place with butterflies and rainbows in the sky. Ech. Let me just throw up for a second.

No, not my thing, sorry.

Instead, I'd like to talk about how I'm thankful about peace in a different and more interesting way (hopefully)

Let's start with a little trivia. Did you know that somewhere sometime in the 1900s, the peace symbol was first used during World War II as a symbol of victory? The Allied powers mostly used this v symbol to express their happiness after winning the war. It's become such a powerful symbol during that time; it also became a symbol that unified them as allies.

I find it quite funny and ironic how this sign used to be a celebration of the winning in a war, whereas today it has become a symbol of friendship and peace. A symbol that not just discourages war, but condemns it. So there will be no war victories here, since war is pretty much wrong in so many levels when peace is ever present in the world. There will just be a victory for peace in humanity.

I'm really thankful of the peace symbol.

I'm thankful that the word peace is symbolically portrayed through the gesture of the index finger and middle finger raised together and parted while the other fingers are clenched, like doing the letter V sign or number 2.

I love how the symbol is used by people today as a pose during pictures. I love seeing people take selfies with their two fingers up in the air. I know some people think that this is very jeje (), but I love seeing people with friends and families interacting everyday through this symbol.

What once was a symbol of victory in a war is now a universal symbol that means peace. Isn't that awesome? How you could just raise two fingers in the air to anyone in the world as you smile with your teeth out, without worrying if it could be negatively interpreted because everyone in the world knows what you mean. It's a very powerful symbol that connects people all over the world, and I think that without the peace symbol, wacky photos just wouldn't be the same, don't you agree?

So being the peace loving person I am, I will never be hesitant or afraid to be judged in using the peace sign. It has become a part of our culture and natural human behavior so shouldn't we be proud and embrace it?

Oh and before I end, I think it's time to mention the hippies who made the peace symbol very popular that losers like us copied them and made it mainstream.

You rock guys.

(I guess I did become cheesy there but come on..... I'm talking about peace and it's Christmas, bitches! Can't help to be even a little mushier than usual)

Share the peace everyone, especially this Christmas season! :)

Make peace not war yo! ✌

-k ;)
