Can't Wait to Watch Movies of 2014 PART 2

It was the first day of my Southeast Asian Film class, and we were watching a bunch of trailers of upcoming Hollywood movies. I know, I know, we were supposed to watch Southeast Asian films, but it was our first day and our ever so cool film professor wanted to show us the movies he was looking forward to.

Well, Beryl and I have our own list of CAN'T WAIT MOVIES OF 2014, but after seeing the trailers, I realized that we missed out A LOT on our list, so have decided to make a part 2 of said post.

1. X-Men: Days of Future Past (May 23)

In this new X-Men movie, the characters from the original franchise trilogy will join forces with their younger selves in an effort to change the past, to - get this - ultimately save the future. Awesome, right? The plot sounds very very interesting, and guys, IT'S X-MEN and this time it's the largest collaboration of superheroes! Plus, we get to see Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and more on the big screen once again!

2. Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1)

DIY 2014 Calendar

It's been a week since 2014 has started, and a better way to keep your year organized is by getting yourself a planner or a calendar! This year, instead of buying myself a new calendar, I thought of making and designing my own. Wouldn't it be fun if you have one personalized for yourself?

Step 1: Cut 6 long bond papers into half to get a total of 12 pcs of bond paper.

Step 2: Divide the paper into 7 columns and 5 rows.

Step 3: Leave a small space before making the columns with just enough space to write the day of the week.

Step 4: Write down the dates in each square.

Step 5: Write down the month on the side as creative as you can.

Step 6: Punch a hole on the space above.

Step 7: Get something will let you flip the pages.

You made it! Just as I said, you can always make a more creative calendar than what I did. There are a lot of ways to make one, you just need the proper materials. With making your own calendar, you can now list down the dates of your family and friends' birthday! You'll always remember them and make your loved ones feel special. :)

Can't Wait to Watch Movies of 2014

Being the movie buffs we are, we decided to write a blog post dedicated to the upcoming movies of 2014. This 2014 there are a lot of movie releases that we are truly waiting for! We'll share them to you in this blog post. Plus, you can use this blog post to know the release dates of your awaited movies of 2014.

Let's start off with:

1. The Lego Movie (February 7)

We love watching cartoons and animated films, so it's a crime to not put this on our list of 2014 movies to watch out for! We really enjoyed watching Wreck it Ralph, and think that this movie is similar. Plus, who didn't enjoy playing Lego when they were kids?

2. Divergent (March 21)

We're super excited to watch this movie because we are fans of the book. We read the Divergent book series, so naturally we'd like to see how it is translated to screen. We're most excited to see how they're going to portray dystopian Chicago, the chemistry between Tris and Tobias and of course, how they're going to create the simulations!

And now, we'd like to present to you our new layout! YAY! We did a totally huge revamp, and now we've made the blog easier to navigate around by adding different tabs, so you go better check them out. We've also made a lot of new accounts for our blog in an effort to reach new audiences. So go and follow us in the following:

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE GEEKY CHIQUITAS!

Hi guys! HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We have just finished celebrating the New Year and we would like to share to you the things we did to celebrate it. We are also gonna tell you our plans for next year and our New Year's resolution.

To celebrate the New Year we had a big dinner, ate ice cream, inflated, like, a thousand balloons, and pestered our parents and aunties to play a game that the three of us, with the help of a cousin, planned. The game we planned was a scavenger hunt. We were going crazy because we didn't hide the clues yet and our relatives were already downstairs. After eating, they weren't leaving the dining area yet and we had to put a clue there. In the end, we decided to put the clues sneakily into where they were supposed to be. No one noticed us, I guess we can become ninjas now. After playing the game, we cooked spaghetti for the whole family and ate like there was no tomorrow. It was so fun!

We also made a list of our New Year's Resolution. We chose one out of the never-ending list that we made and here we are about to share them to you. Our New Year's resolution is to pray hard, study harder, and party hardest.  Yeah.

And of course, it wouldn't be New Year without the mandatory FIREWORKS!!!

New Year's Kiss Unraveled

Hey everyone! There's only a few hours left til the clock strikes midnight. How's your New Year's Eve so far?

The New Year is often celebrated by parties, good food, revelry and of course not to forget the infamous midnight smooch to greet the New Year. I've never kissed anyone in New Year, but that's because I've always celebrated it with my family, and I'm left with choices like: my stupid brother, my parents, our annoying dog, and 1234567890 relatives who I don't feel very kissy with. And who kisses their family on the lips anyway? Well, not in our family.

Fearless 2013

Have you conquered any of your fears this year?

2013 was a pretty eventful year for me. I've done a lot of things I've never done before, like set up an online shop, join orgs, direct a short film, write a screenplay - but the one thing I've done this year that I am most proud of is creating this blog. Now that it's about to come to a close, I can't believe I've become so fearless.

I was a writer, I am a writer, and I always will be a writer. Who cares if I'm not employed in a magazine or newspaper or that I haven't had a single story published? I write and write and write, and no one can ever take that away from me.

I'm proud of my writing.

And this is the fear I've conquered in 2013.

Countdown to 2k14: The Two Things I Don't Want To Be Around

'Hey everyone! There's only 2 days left til the New Year, so I'll be dedicating this post to the 2 things I don't like being around.

Just to be clear, this post isn't about the things I hate. It's about what I don't want to be around, but not because I'm disgusted or anything. I'm probably not making sense right now so I'll just proceed to the list and hope you understand what I'm talking about better.

1. Clowns
I don't mean to offend any clowns or clown-lovers reading this. I'm also not judging clowns or anything, it's just that I don't like being around them. I find them kinda creepy. I guess I watch too much horror movies. I have never had a clown at any of my birthday parties and when I go to birthday parties with clowns, I stay as far away as I can from the clowns. I guess it's not just clowns, I also seem to dislike being around mascots, geishas (though I've never been around one), mimes, people with masks on... (I still don't mean to offend anyone). I think I just don't like being around strangers whose faces I can't see. I don't know if this is connected to something or what it says about me but all I know is that clowns and the other things I talked about make me want to get away from the room they are in.

2. Cockroaches

I'm not trying to be the typical girl here, talking about being 'scared' of cockroaches, I'm just saying that when I see a cockroach... I run. I guess this started when I found a cockroach in my shoe. I was so thankful that I wore socks when I realized there was a cockroach. They also look gross so that's another reason.

I'm including these things in the countdown because when the year 2014 comes, I want to be able to work on not being too freaked out when a clown or cockroach comes near me.

Have a fear-free day!!
-Auds ;)

New Year Countdown: 2 days!!

Countdown to 2k14: My 3 Overwatched Movies of the Year

There's only 3 days left before New Year, so for today's countdown, I'll be sharing the top 3 mainstream movies I over watched this year.

Catching Fire

This is a pretty obvious one, given I've already written 2 blogposts about this movie (this being the 3rd). The movie certainly isn't the best movie of the year (far from it actually, lol it could be improved) but being The Hunger Games, Peeniss/Everlark, Jennifer Lawrence, and Josh Hutcherson stan that I am, of course I had to watch it 3 times in the theaters, and 12345678900 times at home on my computer. No regrets though, my download even had Chinese subtitles and shadows occasionally passing by the screen. Isn't that awesome?

What I got out of this: I can act out (with feelings) the beach scene line by line (Peeta: Nobody needs me. Katniss: I do. I need you *momol*), the scene at the end when Katniss attacks Haymitch (Katniss: You lied to me! You're a liar! *scratches and attacks Haymitch's face), the Katniss and Peeta speech scene (Peeta: Our lives aren't measured by years they are measured by the lives we've touched around us. Katniss: I'm sorry I couldn't save her) and more! And yes I can deliver these scenes WITH LEGIT FEELINGS! Oh and I can fake whistle the Rue song, and I know that the credits come out in order of appearance.

Frozen

Okay, so before anything let me get this straight. Out of the 11 times I saw this movie, only 3 times did I watch it willingly. The other 8 times I watched it because my little 4 year old cousin wanted to see the movie over and over again and I had no choice but to play it for her, thus tempting myself to actually watch it again. I only watched this once in theaters, and I reacted at the end saying "wow I am so watching this again!" Who knew again meant 8, 9, I mean, 10 more times?

What I got out of this: I can sing all the songs in the soundtrack, most notably Let it Go and Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? I've memorized all these songs, and I know all the timings, like when the music fades in or fades out or which songs will play at which scene. I also know the dialogue in the Elsa Anna confrontation scenes, notably the "Go away, Anna" scene.

Countdown to 2k14: 5 Unforgettable Books

Because we had so much fun doing the Christmas Series, we decided to make another countdown - this time to New Year!

Exciting, huh? :)

With 5 days left today, I will begin the countdown by writing about the 5 best books I read this year and why I liked them so much. The arrangement of these books don't matter - if I put a book in number one, it doesn't mean that it's the best among the five. The order is completely random.

1. Eleanor and Park

When I was younger I didn't like reading love stories, I usually read adventure and mystery books. Eleanor and Park is the reason why I've decided to give love stories a try which is why I put it on number one in my list. I like that this book had two very interesting and relatable characters. They aren't rich or popular. Park is a not-so-tall Korean boy and Eleanor is a poor, 'chubby', and weird red-head. They are very different and yet they go very well together. I wouldn't say that they are opposites but they certainly aren't similar to each other. I loved everything about this book and I will definitely read it again.

2. Dash and Lily's Book of Dares

I have no idea why I like this book, all I know is that I do. Maybe it's because both of the characters are clever, or maybe it's because when Dash and Lily first meet they don't fall in love instantly (though Lily was kinda drunk at the time). I don't know why but I liked it. It's not a book that I would usually read but I'm glad I did.
