Feature Follow Friday: Characters You'd Like to Have a Twitter

Increase Blog Followers
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work?

The goal is to increase blog followers and make friends. First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you! What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed. All features are chosen randomly to be the feature. They are not chosen by content or name.
Book character(s) you’d like to see with their own Twitter page
Levi from Fangirl
Not only is he super cute and adorable and hyper, he says the sweetest things as well! I'd love to see his cute and funny but sweet tweets all over my timeline!

Minho from Maze Runner

He's one of my favorite characters from the Maze Runner series! He is incredibly cool and snarky, and I'd to love to see his maze-related tweets.

Severus Snape from Harry Potter

I don't particularly like Snape; I think he's a selfish prick and a despicable a-hole. But still, I'd love to see him tweet about how bitter his life is. It'll probably be really funny and pathetic and meme-worthy!

Interviewing Deadly Darlings: Week 5

Week five's featured blogger is Aimee a.k.a Deadly Darlings! You know the drill, we interview different bloggers and we feature them in our blog every week.

Get to know Aimee, an awesome book blogger who's almost just the same age with me. Hahaha.
1. Share you favorite joke or chat-up line. "When I see lovers' names carved in a tree, I don't think its cute. I just think it's crazy how many people bring knives on a date."

2. Most embarrassing moment? LOL. There are so many. Well, something book related... When I attended the Mafi/Riggs/Rossi signing, I carried 7 books on stage and dropped them! It was embarrassing since there were hundreds of people watching the signing.

3. Zodiac sign? Leo. :)

4. Most daring thing you've ever done? Tricked and messed with my teachers even if it wasn't April 1st, lol.

5. If you were about to be dropped in a pit of lava, what would you choose as your last words? I would bring my phone out, look for wi-fi and tweet something like "#dying #literally."

6. Who is your favorite cartoon character? Winnie the Pooh!

7. When you were a kid, what was the thing that was understood by everyone but misinterpreted by you? Why women have periods. Basically I thought my mom was dying when I saw a patch of blood on her shorts.

8. Who is your favorite blogger? Tough question. I don't have a favorite, since all bloggers have different styles, personalities and topics. It all depends, really.

9. Future plans? Get a job. Get rich. Buy all the books.

10. Animal that you would own as a pet? All the pets we've ever had always end up dead. (We've had 2 frogs, 1 hamster and a lot of fish.)

11. Do you believe ants are nutritious? Um, well. No?

12. Star Wars or Star Trek? I've never watched either, but I like Yoda and Darth Vader, so Star Wars, I guess.

13. Favorite superhero? Iron Man. Tony Stark has sass.

14. Favorite super villain? Poison Ivy or the Joker.

15. Name one thing you love about yourself? If we're being honest, my voice is one of the only things I love about myself. I love public speaking and the likes, so my voice is definitely something I love.

Interviewing Laura: Week 4 (Loki Rocks!)

A new Sunday, a new featured blogger!  It's already Week 4 of our little feature, and we are loving how this is turning out. Why don't we get to know this week's featured blogger? MEET:

She's a teacher, a wife and a mom of two. Loves reading, reviewing and recommending books. Blogger and contributor to SheReads.org. I actually think she's an awesome mom! =) Comment down below what you think!

1. Share your favorite joke or chat-up line.
Be there or be square.

2. Most embarrassing moment?
I have many, most of which occur when I am tripping over my own feet.  I'd say the worst was when I ran into a fence on a small dirt-bike after bragging about what a good rider I was.

3. Zodiac sign?
Leo

4. Most daring thing you've ever done?
White water rafting
Zip lining

I miss a lot of things, it is in my nature.  When I was young, my mother used to ask me if I thought money grew on trees.  Well, I didn't think it actually grew there but I did think there was an unlimited supply coming from some magical place.

8. Who is your favorite blogger?
I like a lot of blogs but I would say Shouldbereading is a favorite and of course SheReads because I review for them.

9. Future plans?
Less work, more sleep and time with family.

10. Animal that you would own as a pet? (Birds, cats, dogs, fishes, bunnies, and guinea pigs not allowed)
Cats and dogs are my favorite but I have had all of the above in the past. I don't recommend the guinea pig, they poop too much.

11. Do you believe ants are nutritious?
Hmmm... Maybe if they were covered in dark chocolate.  Wouldn't that add some vitamins to them?

12. Star Wars or Star Trek?
Totally Star Wars.  No contest.

13. Favorite superhero?
Iron Man and Captain America are in a tie for first right now in my fantasies.

14. Favorite super villain?
 Loki rocks!

15. Name one thing you love about yourself.
I think I am a good mom and my eye color is a cool shade of blue.

16. TBH...
There needs to be more than 24 hours in my day.  Oh... And I think mean people suck.

17. What is your favorite shirt/dress/pants/jacket/hoodie/any piece of clothing? Attach a picture.

Cheerful

My kids and dark chocolate.  I know that's two.  I don't follow directions well.

22. What's your happy place?
My bed with a book or watching X-files reruns.

23. You just murdered someone. How would you dispose of their body?(Examples: throw it in the ocean, bury it, dissolve it Breaking Bad style) We're just curious, promise. :)
Tie some cinder blocks to it and dump in deep water... I guess.

24. Attach a selfie!

Byeeeee guys! *hearts everywhere*

Interviewing Gail: Week 2

It's already week 2 of our little feature! If you are new to our blog, we basically interviewed different bloggers, so that you, yes you who are reading this right now can get to know them, while we get to know them too. For this week's featured blogger.. *drum roll sound* IT'S...

1. Share your favorite joke or chat-up line.
"Do you know what this shirt is made of? Boyfriend material." HAHA I just think it's so witty and cheesy.

2. Most embarrassing moment?

OH GOD I HAVE PLENTY. Um, I guess it was during my reading of honors in grade school. We were getting ready to have our picture taken when the photographer yelled, "WACKY POSE!" so I did my own thing. I remained in that position, not knowing he already took the "serious" photo. I was the only one doing the wacky pose while everyone looked so regal. I burned that photo soon after.

3. Zodiac sign?

Libra

4. Most daring thing you've ever done?
I guess my life's been pretty safe and boring. Does bathing and feeding an angry monkey count as daring?

5. If you were about to be dropped in a pit of lava, what would you
choose as your last words?
THE FLOOR IS LAVAAAAAA!

6. Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender

7. When you were a kid, what was the thing that was understood by
everyone but misinterpreted by you? (Example: ______ used to wonder
why people said that there was 0% interest. She means why would anyone
buy it if it wasn't even the slightest bit interesting?)

Sales confused me a lot. I used to think 70% SALE meant you would pay only 70% of the price. So I got confused when people were happier when the sale was 50% instead of 20%.

8. Who is your favorite blogger?
The Bloggess. I recently found her blog. I think she's awesome.

9. Future plans?
My dream is to get published. I've always loved making up stories and getting to share them with the world would be just wonderful.

10. Animal that you would own as a pet? (Birds, cats, dogs, fishes,
bunnies, and guinea pigs not allowed)
Starfish. They're so cute in their own weird way.

11. Do you believe ants are nutritious?
I had to Google this and it says ants are high in protein but I still would not eat ants.

12. Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Wars!

13. Favorite superhero?
Iron Man

14. Favorite super villain?
The Joker

15. Name one thing you love about yourself?
My imagination.

16. TBH…
TBH I'm afraid of the future.

17. What is your favorite shirt/dress/pants/jacket/hoodie/any piece of
clothing? Attach a picture.

I love this hoodie so much. I bring it with me whenever I travel, and just having it gives me comfort.

18. Word that best describes you?
Mysterious

19. Favorite app?
Twitter

20. What food do you crave right now? Attach a picture.

21. What's the thing you can't live without?
Family

22. What's your happy place?
I'm in my "happy place"whenever I get this sudden burst of creativity and determination, like I just wanna write everything, not caring if it's written perfectly. But I'm most happy when I'm left alone with my thoughts.

23. You just murdered someone. How would you dispose of their body?
(Examples: throw it in the ocean, bury it, dissolve it Breaking Bad
style) We're just curious, promise. :)

I would set it on fire.

24. Attach a selfie!

Feature Follow Friday: April Fool's

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

GFC

This week's question:

Late April Fools. What was the best prank you’ve played or had played on you? Share!

A: This is a hard question! We've never actually done anything for April Fool's - and that makes us pretty lame. We've always been together every April Fool's, since that's in the summer (here in the Philippines) and all 3 of us usually spend it at our grandparents. We've always had plans to do April Fool's pranks on people in the family, but they never really push through. Maybe next year though! :)

Since we kind of cheated this week, we're sharing one of our favorite pranks instead!

If you guys followed our blog, let us know through the comments, and we'd gladly follow you back! :) We love meeting new bloggers!

Waiting on Wednesday: To All the Boys I've Loved Before

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

WHAT WE ARE WAITING FOR:

Title: To All The Boys I've Loved Before
Author: Jenny Han
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

Publication Date: April 15, 2014
Kindle Edition: 288 pages

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

WHY WE ARE WAITING:

Soupy Sundays: On Cliches (5)

Soupy Sundays is a discussion post at Geeky Chiquitas in which we talk about our opinions on certain topics. This week's topic is on cliches.

ON CLICHÉS

Some people really hate cliches. They say that some plot lines are so overused. Of course it's nice to find a plot which is new and fresh since we tend to see a lot of the same plot lines in every genre. It gets tiring to see all of the same kind of books over and over again. They may be written differently but are, in essence, the same.

It may be so but we think that some books that are cliches are actually nice and enjoyable. We believe that a book's greatness is based more on how it was written. Maybe a book might be a cliche but if it is written well, if the plot was given justice, then it would probably be great for us. There is also a reason for why certain topics become so popular. Maybe that topic was simply great or could be worked with at so many different angles that people found it good enough to be worth reading about over and over again.

We admit that it might be hard to come up with new, fresh topics since there are so many books that you can't help but think: "What's the use of trying to think of a new topic when probably every single one has already been done?" Well, you might think that all topics are covered but we believe that if you think hard enough, you'll find a topic that's new. If you really can't think of one, you can choose to use one that you think hasn't been used much.

There are a lot of plot lines that we want to read yet haven't read yet. Sometimes, we are disappointed about how there are so many books on a certain topic but none on another. On a past post, we listed down a couple of topics that we haven't seen yet in a book that we would probably like to read. There were about ten topics there and we believe that we even had more that we didn't list down anymore. (You can check it out here.)

Even though we would like to see new, fresh topics when we read a book, we cannot deny that there's something about cliches that is kinda comforting. The feeling when you read a book and you already know what is happening is just different. It gives this comforting feeling. Makes you feel safe like nothing's gonna surprise you or anything. You already know what generally happens so you don't feel the need to analyze everything. You can just relax while reading a cliche.

In conclusion, we don't think that cliches are bad. We believe that a book should not be judged solely on its plot line but by it as a whole. Though we think of it as such, we would still like to see more unique topics. More books that cover new territories. Every plot is worth writing about because someone out there might be looking for a book like that so we hope that writers everywhere try as much as possible to write about different things. Audrey even saw a book on Goodreads that showed you how to sharpen pencils. If that isn't unique and different, we don't know what is.

What do you think about cliches? Leave a comment!

Wibbly Wobbly Wednesdays: The Timekeeper by Mitch Albom

Wibbly Wobbly Wednesdays is a new feature on this blog where we talk about any book that has something to do with the concept of time. The book may be about time travel, set in the past or future, or just has a bizarre timeline. If you are a Whovian, you know what we're talking about! :)

The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

Before, we said that we have never read a Mitch Albom book. Now, we can honestly say that we have since we have just finished reading The Time Keeper. We realized that it would be perfect for our Wibbly Wobbly Wednesdays post so we chose it for the post.

Title: The Time Keeper
Author: Mitch Albom
Hardcover: 224 pages
Publisher: Hyperion

Synopsis (via Goodreads):

In this fable, the first man on earth to count the hours becomes Father Time. The inventor of the world's first clock is punished for trying to measure God's greatest gift. He is banished to a cave for centuries and forced to listen to the voices of all who come after him seeking more days, more years. Eventually, with his soul nearly broken, Father Time is granted his freedom, along with a magical hourglass and a mission: a chance to redeem himself by teaching two earthly people the true meaning of time.

He returns to our world--now dominated by the hour-counting he so innocently began--and commences a journey with two unlikely partners: one a teenage girl who is about to give up on life, the other a wealthy old businessman who wants to live forever. To save himself, he must save them both. And stop the world to do so.

We realized that Mitch Albom truly is a great author. This book was beautiful and heartwarming. We were transported into The Time Keeper's world and got lost in it. We loved it from the very first page and we thought that we should share this to all of you so that you can also see how great this book is. We are looking forward to reading more of Mitch Albom's works. We hope Mitch remains as good an author as he is now.

What did you think about our Wibbly Wobbly Wednesdays? Have you read The Time Keeper? Leave a comment!
