I don't particularly like Snape; I think he's a selfish prick and a despicable a-hole. But still, I'd love to see him tweet about how bitter his life is. It'll probably be really funny and pathetic and meme-worthy!

I've only met one author in my whole life (I know I'm that lame). But the author I did meet was Gayle Forman, one of my favorite authors in the world! I met her from a book signing event last February, and it was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was my first time to go to a signing and my first time to meet an author as well. She was awesome and fun and so hyper the whole time and I was so giddy when I finally met her!

I have never met an author before. I feel deprived. There are, like, a million authors that I want to meet and take pictures with but not a single one of them have graced me with their presence. Anyway, for this post, I will be telling you about one author that I wan to meet. I want to meet Rainbow Rowell. I think that she would be a great author to meet. I also love all her books. She's a great writer. I really hope I do meet her one day, though that probably won't happen.

  



 


Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!


This week's topic is about Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List (could be blogging related, book related etc. -- meeting authors, reading x many books per year, finishing a daunting book, etc.)

1. We would all like to finish reading at least 70 books before the year ends. 

2. Have our own bookstore. We all love books so we thought that it would be great to be able to have a place where we can spread the love for books to the people who visit the bookstore.

3. Read all the classics we have. We don't really read classics so we're trying really hard to read those that we have as real books or ebooks.

4. Become popular book bloggers all over the world. We know that this is hard to achieve but we believe that if we work hard, we'll get this.

5. Meet and greet all our favorite authors like Rainbow Rowell, David Levithan, Stephanie Perkins and more! We have so many authors that we want to meet so part of our bucketlist is to meet them.

6. Be able to design a cover of one of our favorite authors' books. Wouldn't that be super cool? You'll be able to know that you were great enough to actually design the cover of the book of your favorite author. We think we'll probably faint though if this happens, but we'll recover. Don't worry!

7. Collect all our books and pass them to our future children. There's nothing better than the feeling of knowing that your kids will get to enjoy the books that you enjoyed too when you were young. It's like sharing something that's very intimate. Sharing something that will bring you closer to them.

8. Take a creative writing class. Inspired by: Fangirl. It seems like a great opportunity for us to take this kind of class. It only will we learn stuff, we'll have fun as well.

9. Write our own book. We have so many book ideas that we really hope to one day bring those ideas to life. Place them on paper and make them work!

10. Plan and go to a bookish tour. We've never really been in one so it would be great to go to at least new in the future. We really hope that we'll get to do this sometime soon.

BOOK HAUL: My Most Memorable Books

NOW LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTY BOOKS! :)



This is my first book haul post of the year (and EVER) but I've always wanted to share to you guys a couple of memorable books that I've gotten recently and why each book is special! They've been sitting on my shelf for a while now and I thought today would be the best time to finally write a post about these lovely books, as it is the first day of the year - at least according to the Chinese calendar.

1. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

I purchased Eleanor & Park at the MIBF (Manila International Book Festival) a day after I read it on my Kindle. I rarely buy actual hardcopies of books if I already have purchased the said book on my Kindle, but Eleanor & Park was a rare gem that deserved to be in my Kindle and my shelf. Ergo, this book will always hold a special place in my heart! (See Review)

2. Where'd You Go Bernadette? by Maria Semple

This book isn't technically mine. It's actually my friend, Eirene's. She bought it at the MIBF with me too, and lent it to me a week after. I liked the book so much that I kept 'forgetting' to return it. HAHAHAHA Okay, I will return this maybe soon. Hopefully. 


BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS: Rainbow Rowell books

Have you ever just  inhaled a book as if your life depended on it? And I'm not talking about how people love inhaling the fresh, crisp smell of books (I'm not the only one who does that, right?). I'm talking about how a book could just literally take control over you, the way there's nothing else you can do until you just finish that book. You can't put it down, even to pee or eat or sleep, because it's just too fucking good. And once you've finished it, it feels like just a split second has passed, because it was such a great experience that reading it felt like inhaling the book in one single breath.

And then suddenly it's all you can think about. You go to school and see your crush, and that reminds you of that book. You see something as pathetic as a rock, and still it somehow relates back to that book.

I have no idea if I'm even making the slightest bit of sense here, but this is what I've experienced in the past 2 days because of the wonderful works of the gem that is RAINBOW ROWELL.

Not only does this lady have the coolest name ever, she has incredible writing talent. I literally finished all 3 of her novels in just 2 days (I know, I know, I have no life, but whatever) . I've been twitter-stalking her and flooding her with my tweets, which she has replied to (to the sheer joy and happiness of my fangirl heart)
